Off-the-Books

There are so many wonders to view and experience in Victoria, BC, it was near agony deciding what to include in our agenda. But don't let our opinions stop you from getting the most out of your stay. Below are our original notes on additional sites and activities you may want to consider during your leisure time, or even in place of some of our planned excursions. We won't mind. We want you to have the trip of a lifetime.

  • Shopping on Government St (same street as the Empress), Trounce alley (9 min walk from hotel), Bastion Square (25 min walk, 5 mins by car), Old Town (1860s-'90s - oldest section of Victoria), the very 'English' Oak Bay Village, Mattick’s Farm (home of Adrienne’s Tea Room)
  • Historic & Heritage sites - We’re doing 2 of the most interesting: Craigdarroch Castle & Chinatown's Walk of Lanterns
  • Fisherman’s Wharf - food, shopping, eco-tour adventures
  • Royal BC Museum open daily 10a-5p (3 min walk from Empress)
  • Miniature World - “The Greatest Little Show on Earth.” Spring - open daily 9a-5p, $15 (4 min walk)
  • St. Ann’s Academy - restored grounds & historic interiors featuring the 1858 restored chapel, Victoria's original Catholic cathedral. Self-guided tours available in Interpretive Centre. Restored grounds are open dawn to dusk daily. (11 min walk from hotel)
